This has been a rough week. Betty’s health had been continually getting worse. My visits with her, and even Gini’s far more frequent visits, became more and more just sitting with her while she slept.
Last weekend was an interesting one for our family, with some unexpected results.
It seemed innocent enough. My cousin Trish Hudson had been talking about having my wife and I, along with my sisters over for a meal sometime. My sister’s birthday had just passed a couple of days earlier, and I got one of those notifications in Facebook that said “Trish Hudson mentioned you in a post”. I clicked the link, glanced at it quickly, and totally misunderstood.
I wish I could say I purchased our Instant Pot carefully after doing tons of research and making a highly informed decision; but I didn’t. It was already January 4th (2018), our anniversary was coming up in just over a week, and I didn’t have a thought yet as to what I was going to get Gini.
Yesterday was a rough day. Gini called me at work to let me know that our neighbor had called. Our Boston Terrier Celtic had gotten
Gini’s Mom was becoming more insistent that Celtic (our Boston Terrier) was “hers”, and he wasn’t as thrilled with the idea. She would pick him up and carry him around (he’s really way too heavy for that); when she put him in her lap, he was too heavy and uncomfortable for her. Plus, he’d “escape” the first chance he got, and run to Gini.
About 7, 8 years ago, our friend Tammy Looney posted that a friend of hers had a dog for adoption. We contacted her friend Kim Ward, and after some pretty extensive questioning, she agreed we could take Celtic the Boston Terrier home.
OK, I know there’s this typical stereotype about the computer geek living at home with his mother, and no, that’s not what this is about.
Things seemed so calm, but the sudden panic attack was near. It was almost 11pm, and we were at our daughter’s house with the grandsons (who were all now in bed). Gini had fallen asleep after fighting the battle of the bedtime to a draw with the oldest of the two; and I was watching the last of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” on HBO.
